Humanity will not keep to themselves for eternity. Eventually, we reached out to our neighbour stars and their neighbour stars. The question was how would we go about doing it. Would it go without hitches? Well, it has to. There is no one to call for help; even if there is, they cannot reach you in time.
These missions are incredibly large-scale. Having had an entire planet... No, an entire solar system behind their conception, there is no way they could run into a problem, right?
Yeah... You'd imagine so. And in at least one case- this one- you would be wrong.
