Outer Reaches

Internal Log: Day 25 Transcender System Pod successfully launched Cargo: Basic supplies Touchdown ----------------------------------------------------- Mission Log Author: Captain Nathan C. Jackson Mission 11, Entry 2 Well, this will be my last log for the immediate future, or for good, depending on how the launch goes. Hopefully, it goes well. If it does, I will be experiencing a relatively short 15-day trip into the asteroid field orbiting Beta. Oh yeah, I never did mention it, did I? The planets in a system are named for the position they are in relation to the star. So, Beta II is named that because it is the second furthest planet away from its parent star, designated Beta. A rather boring algorithm altogether, which is why no rules prevent the colonies from coming up with new names later down the line. Honestly, I cannot imagine anyone bothering even if there were rules that prevented designations from changing. It is not like anyone can stop us. Maybe there will be a nitpick amo...

Scattering

I felt... uncharacteristically alert. We were working with the junior editorial committee on the next issue of the school magazine. I was not feeling dozy as usual, not making typos, I could even tell who and when someone was getting up and sitting back down. But I can't concentrate. This is weird, it almost hurts. Why am I so wired up? Well, I'm doing my work and all that, but I don't feel like myself. *BANG* I jumped in my seat, but nobody else seemed to notice. I looked around for what the noise was and noticed that Manas's hands were together. He clapped to get our attention and his claps were obnoxiously loud. But still, that felt louder than usual.
